Fundraising to help Nepal earthquake victims

A magnitude of 7.8 earthquake struck Nepal on 25 April, 2015 killing more than 8,000 thousands and left thousand injured and homeless. The quake followed by several aftershocks causes widespread damage to homes and buildings throughout the affected areas and since the earthquake occurred, many people have lost their homes and are living in temporary shelters or camps. They are in need of food, clean drinking water, warm clothing blankets and hygiene kits. According to media reports, the survivors include a large number of women and girls who are pregnant as well; they are experiencing the problem of not being able to access essential reproductive health services.

Phyathai 2 Hospital and UNFPA have coordinated to response to these needs. A donation boxes have been put in the areas of the hospital to help raise funds for earthquake victims in Nepal until 13 May 2015. The total amount comes to 100,000 baht. With this fund, UNFPA will support disaster recovery by distributing dignity kits, which contain essential hygiene supplies, including soap and sanitary pads, for women and girls.
