Breast Cancer Awareness Month
The most common type of cancer among women is breast cancer. Generally, most women who are over 50 are more likely to develop this type of cancer, but it also occurs in younger women (under 40 years old). A family history of breast cancer particularly in mother, daughter, and sister also plays an important part, putting women at a higher risk.
Symptoms can include the following:
• Change in the size or the shape of the breast,
• Pain in any area of the breast
• Nipple discharge other than breast milk (including blood)
• A new lump in the breast or underarm
If you have suspected symptoms, visit breast care specialists for physical exam, history taking, clinical breast exam, ultrasound and mammogram. In case a lump in the breast is found, biopsy will be done to remove the cells or tissue and further evaluated by a pathologist.
At Phyathai 2 Hospital, we have breast care specialist and breast care surgeon to provide screening, diagnosis and comprehensive treatment.
