The oncologist frequently uses targeted therapy with chemotherapy and other treatments for effective results. Prior to receiving targeted therapy, the tumor will need to be tested to select the best treatment and unlike traditional chemotherapy, its goal is to fight cancer cells with more precision and potentially fewer side effects.
