Today, in particular, robotic knee replacement has been adopted as a way to help doctors perform surgery more conveniently and with better outcomes.
To prevent risk in high-risk patients and deliver best treatment results, Prof. Dr.Thanainit Chotanaphuti, Head of Orthopedic Institute, who has more than 20 years experience in orthopedic surgery has been working with doctors and nurses a quality control program called “Phyathai Ortho Co-morbid Index”, which is a Quality Service for all patients who undergo orthopedic surgery. The principle is to assess the patients with three-part joint assessment by doctor and nursing team. If the total score is 6-7 points, it is considered not dangerous and the surgery can be performed. If the total score is 8 or more, the patient is considered at risk and will enter the process of MDT Conference, also known as Multi-disciplinary Conference. During this process, the multidisciplinary medical team and related staff will hold a meeting to evaluate the options and impacts according to the JCI standards and inform the patient and the relatives, to let them understand and see the consequences before making their final decision. This is to ensure the patient's safety before deciding to do the surgery. This index practice is only available at Phyathai 2 hospital.
