Guides for your hospital stay 

Before admission.

  • In order to determine the overall health fitness prior to the surgical procedure, the patient will undergo preoperative examination which includes Chest X-Ray, EKG, CBC and Anti-HIV and etc. as appropriated. If the patient has any underlying diseases, they may need to be referred to consult with particular specialist for other necessary tests depending on doctor’s consideration.
  • Please continue to take your medication as prescribed, unless you have been advised by the doctor otherwise. You should seek specific instructions from your surgeon and cardiologist as to when or which medications should be stopped before the surgery.
  • Do not smoke 48 hours before surgery as nicotine use affects blood flow and can slow down your recovery and cause complications.
  • Avoid drinking alcohol for at least 48 hours before your scheduled surgery to minimize the possibility of serious complications both during and after the procedure.
  • Normally, you should not eat or drink for at least six hours prior to the surgery.

On admission date

  • Please arrive and report punctually at the place of admission, our staff will register and prepare you for the surgery.
  • Please bring along all your medication currently taking with you, as well as your medication record and instructions for your medications.
  • Please do not apply makeup, nail polish or wear jewelry or contact lenses on surgery day
  • Please do not bring valuables items to the hospital. The hospital will not responsible for any loss of your personal belongings or valuables.
  • If you are going home on the same day of the surgery, please arrange for a relative or friend to accompany you home.
  • Normally, you should not eat or drink for at least six hours prior to the surgery.

Day of discharge

  • Learn the name of your medication. You should know what they do, how much to take and when to take them.
  • Some patient require physical rehabilitation at home, this will be instructed by physical therapist before discharge

 

  • Physical activity restrictions, wound care instructions and dietary guidelines will also be informed and explained before discharge
  • A follow-up appointment will be scheduled, please come to follow-up with the doctor as per scheduled.
