Breast Conservative Therapy (BCT) is a treatment approach for breast cancer that aims to remove the cancerous tumor while preserving as much of the breast as possible.

Benefits of BCT:

1. Preserves the breast: BCT allows women to retain most of their breast, which can have a positive impact on body image and self-esteem.

2. Comparable survival rates: Studies have shown that BCT, when appropriate, offers survival rates comparable to mastectomy (removal of the entire breast).

3. Less invasive: BCT is generally less invasive than mastectomy, resulting in shorter recovery times and fewer potential complications.

Eligibility for BCT:

BCT may be an option for women with:

1. Early-stage breast cancer: Typically, stage I or II breast cancer.

2. Small tumor size: The tumor should be relatively small in relation to the size of the breast.

3. No multicentric disease: The cancer should be confined to one area of the breast.

4. No prior radiation therapy: Women who have previously received radiation to the chest area may not be eligible.
