Excisional Breast Biopsy under General Anesthesia as a Day Case

85,000 THB | Expiry Date 31 December 2025

An excisional breast biopsy is a surgical procedure where the entire suspicious lump or area of abnormal tissue in the breast is removed for examination under a microscope, used to determine if a breast abnormality is cancerous or benign

Reasons for an excisional breast biopsy
1. Suspicious findings on imaging tests: If a mammogram, ultrasound, or MRI reveals a concerning area in the breast, an excisional biopsy may be recommended to get a definitive diagnosis.

2. Palpable breast lump: If a lump can be felt in the breast during a physical exam, and it raises suspicion for cancer, an excisional biopsy may be necessary.

3. Unclear results from other biopsies: If a needle biopsy (like a fine-needle aspiration or core needle biopsy) doesn't provide a clear diagnosis, an excisional biopsy may be needed to remove a larger tissue sample for more thorough analysis.
Recovery after an excisional breast biopsy:

1. Pain and discomfort: You may experience some pain, bruising, and swelling after the biopsy. Pain medication can help manage discomfort.

2. Wound care: Follow your surgeon's instructions on caring for the incision site.

3. Follow-up: You'll have a follow-up appointment to discuss the biopsy results and any further treatment needed.
