Excisional Plerygium

32,000 THB | Expiry Date 31 December 2025

Pterygium excision is a surgical procedure performed to remove a pterygium, a non-cancerous growth on the conjunctiva that can extend onto the cornea. The surgery aims to improve vision and alleviate discomfort caused by the pterygium

How the procedure is performed?

Numbing:The eye is numbed with local anesthetic drops or injections.

Incision:The surgeon makes an incision around the pterygium, carefully separating it from the surrounding conjunctiva and cornea.

Removal:The pterygium is carefully removed, including the portion that has grown onto the cornea.

Grafting (optional): In some cases, a conjunctival graft (tissue taken from another part of the eye) or amniotic membrane graft may be placed over the area where the pterygium was removed to reduce the risk of recurrence.

Closure:The area may be left to heal on its own or closed with sutures.

Patching: An eye patch may be applied to protect the eye.

Excisional pterygium surgery is typically a quick outpatient procedure with a relatively short recovery time.
