A Joint Medical Symposium on Pediatric Endocrinology and Minimally Invasive Surgery
On 31 August 2024, Phyathai 2 Hospital organized a medical seminar in collaboration with Cam-Medical Services (CMS) on the topics of surgical diseases and Pediatric Endocrinology. The seminar has been held with the objective to promote pediatric and adolescent health care, as well as innovations in minimally invasive surgery (MIS) for abdominal diseases, such as:
• Gallbladder surgery: gallstones, cholecystitis (gallbladder inflammation)
• Appendectomy: for appendicitis, appendiceal abscess, or ruptured appendicitis
• Liver cancer surgery
• Colorectal cancer surgery
• Hernia surgery: inguinal hernia, diaphragmatic hernia, and abdominal wall hernia
• Small and large intestine surgery: tumors, intestinal obstruction caused by adhesions
• Adrenal gland surgery: tumor removal
• Stomach surgery: tumor removal, gastric cancer, and acid reflux
• Spleen surgery: splenic abscess, enlarged spleen due to blood disorders
• Liver and pancreatic surgery: liver tumors, pancreatitis, and pancreatic tumors
During the seminar, there was a lecture by a pediatric endocrinology specialist, Dr.Pichaya Vathanasakpuban on the causes and treatment of short stature in children and early puberty. A lecture was also given by a surgical specialist, Asst. Prof. Dr.Wisit Kasetsermwiriya on innovations in minimally invasive surgery (MIS) for the treatment of abdominal diseases receiving a lot of attention from attendees who are a group of Cambodian patients both adult and children.
